We are a non competitive off road club with a focus on trail riding and trail maintenance within the Ganaraska Forest in Southern Ontario
GPTR Mission Statement
The GPTR continuously works towards fulfilling an ambassador's role on the behalf of the growing interest of off-road trail riding within the Ganaraska Forest Conservation Authority jurisdiction.
Our goal is to enhance this sport through the efforts of increasing the awareness/education of riders and community by way of safety, riding etiquette and abiding by the forest rules and regulations as we communicate in concert with the Forest User Committee. Our vision and actions will be targeted in developing the future rider's respect of the off-road sport within the forest's best interest.
Our objectives to accomplish this goal will be through the lobbying and physical contribution of our GPTR members who are committed to dedicate their time for the betterment of the forest. On-going actions will be directed to the maintenance of the forest by way of improving existing trails, mapping and marking, rehabilitation projects, and hosting clean-up days.
Update on Lookout Hill
Rome Haloftis, Paul Mooney, User Commitee Member and Stephen McMullen, Forest Engineer met at Lookout Hill Thursday May 18, to discuss options for installing barriers to keep ORV traffic off the face of the hill in order to stop further erosion. We determined we would need to install barriers in two different places on the face of the hill and it would require a total of 100' of barrier. We also decided the barrier would be 3' in height. Right now we are working on a design and looking at our options for material to be used for the barrier. Stephen from the GRCA has committed to drilling all of the post holes with their tractor.
